With a little help from my friends, the Welsh Border Collies Sam and Chloe, I have been dying silk at home for five years.
I hand-dye silk scarves using a variety of techniques. Using several dye baths, I build up my own shades and colours to create patterns on the fabric. And by 'crinkling' the silk, I produce a completely different kind of scarf.
I also produce silk ties, cards, and small silk gifts like my scented sachets containing rose or lavender pot-pourris.
Recently I have started to make decorative 'pots' for pot-pourri or for jewellery, using a technique called Silk fusion. Unspun silk fibres are dyed, then fused and shaped, to produce pots from fluff!
I also hand-make a range of decorated and aromatherapy candles, with pure essential oils like lavender or sandalwood.
